JAKARTA (26/03) - Ahead of the Idul Fitri holiday 2024/1445 H, the Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Land Transportation urges the public to first check the roadworthiness of buses that will be used in the MitraDarat application to ensure safety and security while traveling.
"In the MitraDarat application there is a feature to check the roadworthiness of bus transport, both AKAP and Tourism buses. People only need to enter the vehicle number in the "Check Worthiness" feature in the application and a statement will come out whether the bus is roadworthy or not," said the Director General of Land Transportation, Hendro Sugiatno in Jakarta, Tuesday (26/03).
He further said that whether a vehicle is fit or not will be seen from the transportation operational permit and the certificate of passing the periodic test. This will appear when the vehicle number is entered in the application.
"This is very important to do to prevent undesirable things from happening on the road. So we urge all people, whether renting buses or passengers in general, to ensure that the bus is safe and secure before traveling," he added.
Apart from that, the Directorate General of Land Transportation through the Land Transportation Management Center (BPTD) is also trying to realize road transport safety during the Eid holiday by carrying out rampchecks for Inter-City Inter-Provincial (AKAP), Inter-City Within Province (AKDP), Cross-Border transport and Tourism transportation. Together with Provincial, Regency and City Transportation Services throughout Indonesia.
"Rampchecks are not only carried out before Eid transport, but routine and independent checks are also carried out by PO Bus," he explained.
The ramp check ahead of Eid transportation will be carried out from February 21 to March 31 2024. So if deficiencies are found in the bus vehicles, they can be repaired before the Eid transportation period which will start April 3 2024.
"As of yesterday (25/03) at 10 am, at least 20,173 buses had been checked for fitness," said Director General Hendro.
Of this number, 13,752 fleets were permitted to operate, 3,661 fleets received repair warnings, and the remainder were prohibited from operating because they did not meet road safety aspects.
The entire ramp check series is carried out at each Type A Terminal, Type B Terminal, Type C Terminal and Tourism Bus Pool by each relevant agency in accordance with its authority.
"We urge all bus POs, both AKAP and tourism, to ensure that the entire fleet meets roadworthiness so that it can accommodate service needs for Eid transportation," he said.
People who want to rent a tourist bus are also advised to provide a resting place for the driver in the tourist location area and if staying overnight in the tourist area or destination, so that the driver can be optimal when driving the fleet to take service users the next day.
"We will continue to supervise, supervise and monitor the implementation of ramp checks so that Eid transportation can take place safely, securely and comfortably," he concluded. (ALV/WBW/AZN)
